Theme: 深 S.E.A.
We would like to express our gratitude to Sham Shui Po District Council for the sponsorship of this Sham Shui Po District Multiethnic Cultural Festival Public Educational Exhibition and Workshops. Through curating this exhibition, I have more opportunities to learn the culture of diverse ethnic minorities, and to understand the cultural meanings and their communities.
Shamshuipo, historically, had been a busy pier. It connected local and foreign people as well as trading business. It experienced reclamation, landscape change and town development, it is still a place linkage with different culture. Shamshuipo has no pier, it is still nearby sea. Culture is like Sea. We can discover its treasure, traveling. Different water zones accompanied with various landscapes provide nutrition for the development of diverse cultural habits. Shamshuipo is a place where cultural diversified, we can participate to understand, feels, to explore underline meaning of different ethnic groups. 深 S.E.A. implies to invite audiences to participate deeply throughout exhibition and workshops, to Share, Experience and Appreciation.
Expression is not only by words or speaking, Arts is a way to 'enhance our life, by non communicative language to express thoughts and feelings'(American Art Therapy Association). There are NGOs participated this exhibition and workshops. The exhibited art works include PhotoVoice, 3 minutes Stories (video); Future Artists (galleries) and Cultural tour (Photos). Furthermore, we are delighted to invite Think Young, and Creativity Is to share a Shamshuipo Photographic project (Deep Memory Pier) and a Movie (Creativity is) to re-understanding images and to find out the source of creative within us. In additional, the workshops include Chinese Culture (mini Fai Chun, Chinese painting, Paper cut, Paper fold), Ethnic Minorities culture (Dance, languages, Henna, traditional clothes, Music and its stories), and other cultural art (Coffee dye, Leather art, ballon art and audio description). Through making art works, we connect inner expereinces, thoughts and feelings. We invite audiences to enroll our cultural workshops

感謝深水埗區議會關注貧窮問題及少數族裔工作小組贊助這次第九屆民族文化節的公眾教育展覽暨工作坊。透過策劃這次展覽,讓我再次有機會接觸深水埗區內的不同族群的民族文化,認識其文化背後的內涵及認識他們的社區。除此之外,我們也能讓不同的機構及藝術團體參與其中,透過藝術展示,推廣文化交流。
深水埗曾有一個繁盛深水碼頭,它連繫本地與外地的人民及貨運交往。隨著填海、地境的轉變、城鎮的發展,它仍連繫不同文化的所在地。雖然深水埗已不再有繁忙碼頭,它仍然繼續連繫海。文化似是海,蘊函寶藏、能探索、遊歷,不同的水域也有不同地境面貌,從而發展出不同風土人情。深水埗亦是一樣,她有不同文化,我們能從深入參與中認識、感受、探索不同族群的文化底蘊。深 S.E.A.正是希望觀大眾能從深入參與,用心感受,去分享(Share)、體驗(Experience)及欣賞(Appreciation)。
表達不只於文字或說話,藝術亦是一種 '能強化生命,透過非語言溝通形式表達思想及情感'的方法。 (American Art Therapy Association) 這次展覽的作品來自不同的機構,讓不同的民族透過創作藝術作品,表達他們的生活經驗及分享感受,讓社區人士更明瞭他們一個個故事。這次展現的作品有PhotoVoice,我的區我的故事(影像展示)Future Artists(小朋友作品)及樂悠遊(活動概況展示)。另外這次工作坊邀請了 Think Young及Creativity is分享深水埗影像計劃(Deep Memory Pier)及電影(原來我),希望重新理解影像,亦發揮自我創意。除此之外,其它工作坊包括中國文化(迷你揮春、書畫、剪紙、摺紙)、少數族裔文化(舞蹈、語言、手繪、服裝、音樂及其故事分享)與及其它文化藝術(咖啡紮染、皮革藝術、氣球造型、口述影像)。
